Small Steps

Any new plan or programme can feel overwhelming. Making small changes every week breaks up that feeling and makes it more manageable.

Make a list of all the things you want to change. All those unhelpful habits you want to change into new, helpful ones. Tackle these one at a time. Some of them may take longer than others to change but the more you practise, the easier it gets.

One of the habits I used to struggle with was at the petrol station. I used to stop on my way home from work if I was feeling tired and pick up a takeaway coffee. There was usually a 3 for 2 offer on something unhealthy by the till. I'd buy the offer with the intention of only eating one and saving the other 2 for my family. Who was I kidding? By the time I'd got home, the 3 bars had been eaten and washed down with the takeaway coffee! I did this at least twice a week! Now I go to petrol stations with a pay at pump option!
